Afternoon all, it's that time of the week/month/year again when I finally get around to updating the blog. As per usual though when I'm not sat here in front of the PC I have ideas and content whizzing around my head, put me in front of a keyboard and my mind goes blank.
Might as well start then with the various systems I'm now using. I think it's fair to say that I've 'lightened up' a lot with regards my betting, smaller stakes and more varied bets recently, no doubt this is down to the lack of sporting activity (meaning no real football of note) and I've found myself venturing into golf, cricket and even the graveyard of modern day betting - the next manager markets. No doubt some will read this and mark me down as lacking discipline but the bets were a bit of fun and to have an interest in things. To be fair, they did well, I layed the draw in the 1st test between England and Sri Lanka, a total gubbing by all accounts although I never layed it down at the 1.0x prices that got thumped. I've also layed the draw in the current 3rd test and have now greened up, that was more a gamble on the weather on the first day rather than anything else but it's paid off anyway.
I also joined the 'Rory will choke again' movement and layed him at low odds of 1.4 yesterday morning so only a small loss on that one, one of those things where I'd of kicked myself if I hadn't done it and he'd somehow contrived to throw it away (again).
The Next Manager markets have also gone well, just this morning - news is breaking that Chelsea have secured the services of Villas Boas from Porto as their new manager, my lay of Hiddink has now been nicely greened out (layed at 1.27, backed at 5.4). I also heard Dave Whelan's interview on Talksport while Martinez was being touted as the next Villa boss and by the tone of Whelan's voice he seemed confident Martinez would stay so I layed him for the Villa job, another win :o)
Apart from that it's been the usual mixture of laying correct scores in the various leagues and tournaments still around at this time of year, small stakes but ticking over nicely.
My main focus at the moment is the pre race horse racing trading. It's a nut I've always wanted to crack and it seems I'm finally getting somewhere. I'm not going to say much more, this game has a habit of kicking you hard just when you think you're onto something but I'm now at the stage where I'm recording all races (the odds movements) and spending an age poring over each one of them watching and identifying trade entry and exit points. The exit points are currently easy, as close to the start of the race as possible, I look for long term trends and then just let them ride, I can't be doing with high stake, high octane, edge of the seat 1 click scalping, it's just not for me. We all need to find our niche in this betting world and some styles suit some people more than others.
I'm also enjoying reading all the other blogs out there, good to see others keeping them updated on a more frequent basis than myself!
Thats about it for now, no doubt as soon as I click Publish I'll think of a dozen or so other points I wanted to raise.....
