May 27th

Time for another update although my motivation for keeping this updated is getting less and less! It's been a decent enough week with the in play app slowly recouping its losses from earlier this month, currently £100 down for the month so still time to try and at least get back to level. Gillingham's last minute winner in their play off final cost me a nice sum and that would of left me level for the month!!
Scunthorpe v Millwall was the pick of the games over the weekend for me. Sunday afternoon's dramatic Permiership relegation show down turned into a damp squib, Newcastle looked lifeless and you just couldnt ever see them scoring against Villa.

The horse selections are still ticking over nicely and although it looks like May won't be the best of months for my Profit/Loss things won't look quite as bleak as they did earlier this month.

My own horse selection app had a nice 15/1 winner yesterday which puts it into a 3 point profit for the month after a dismal few days. I'm only playing small stakes so I'm happy to leave it running and see where we get to with it.

Haven't a clue about the big game tonight, a 4-4 goal fest or a 0-0 bore-a-thon ? Noone seems to know and the prices on Betfair certainly suggest that there is nothing between the two sides. It's the lottery tonight so you're probably better off having a punt on that instead....

About time I updated this with a post. This week was ticking along until yesterday when the horse selections had the sort of day you love :o) Special mention to NoseAhead who had a fantastic day with special credit to a nice EW double!

The in play football app has been slowly clawing back its losses from the torrid time it had at the beginning of the month, it's made about £250 in the last week and is now 'only' down £135 since the beginning of the month.

My personal picks have been coming along as well. Tuesday was a good day with one winner from the 4 selections and the final selection trading down to 1.16 in-running. The personal horse selections are currently running at +1 point, time to retire :o) I really should post them, it's just getting the time.

May 18th

Well I'm posting so that can only mean one thing, yes after what seemed like an eternity I've finally managed to pull in a decent profit over the weekend :o)

The in play football app finally came back to winning ways, currently up about £200 since the last post, still down for the month but not as bad now. The horse selection services also had a fine weekend, with a special mention to The Form Analyst bringing in 43 points profit, very much needed and very well received!

My new horse backing application had a bit of a mare over the weekend, it picks out horses during the morning based on various factors. On Saturday though it went a bit mad, ok it wasn't the programme it was the programmer, and picked a horse in every race. Only 2 quid a pop but it still added up and I then had to go through all the races and lay the bets off which took some time. It's picked out 5 today and backed them accordingly, I'll post them here but obviously do not put anything on these, this is strictly a work in progress!

I haven't run powerstats for a while, been to busy with other things really. That's all on hold now till next season. It was a disappointing season for the powerstats, I was never confident with the selections. We'll start it again next season and try and stick with it the whole way through then see where we are.

May 11th

The abysmal run continues hence lack of updates really. It's hard to motivate yourself with a blog when you're struggling at this game! The in play football app has had losses of £45, £57, £45 and £7 in the last 4 days. May 3rd was the last time it showed a daily profit. The only good thing to come out of this at the moment is the fact I am closely monitoring my services within a spreadsheet now, May though is a sea of red figures.

I'm still fighting though and have enough in the bank to see out this rough period, no chasing or mad mug bets to try and win it back.

The horses have had a terrible time as well, none of the services I use are performing. I was hoping that using a variety of services might level the P/L a little better but if they are all under performing then it makes things five times as bad :o)

If you want to read more about how the services are going then I suggest you take a read of JP's blog, thats some scarey figures. It's all about the long term view though so we all just need to try and ride it out.

It's all quiet on my other projects, as I said, its hard to motivate yourself when you're going through a tough run.

May 7th

A nasty couple of days for the in play football app with respective £84 and £65 losses, thats coupled with a sharp downhill curve in my P/L on my horse services and things are a bit bleak at the moment! I'm not to worried about the in play app, I know that makes money over time, I could just do without the losses coming all at once! I need to also have a think about the in play football app over the summer, last summer it performed badly on the obscure summer football markets so I may bite the bullet and switch it off at some point. It has bad months occasionally so it might of been just a coincendental blip last year.
Barca's 93rd min equaliser last night was a real blow for me as well as for Chelsea... :o), it turned a £65 profit into a £20 loss and ensured a loss on the day.

I've had my own app running on the horse markets for the last week or so and I'm now getting quite a bit of data coming through for it. I've written another app that analyses this data and I might of spotted a potential for getting involved in laying certain selections based on certain criteria, I'll carry on paper trading it (well - electronically trading it) for now and monitor how it goes.

Darts on tonight, haven't even seen whose playing, I've lost a bit of interest in it recently, probably because I couldn't make any money from it! I think the only way to make money from darts is sit there watching it and trade the markets.

I did plan to start taking a bit more interest in the cricket as the football season draws to a close but I seem to have enough on my plate for the time being so thats something else for the back burner...

May 5th

Went away for the bank holiday weekend so haven't had much time for the blog...! The in play football app has been ticking over, up about £20 since the last post. The horse selections have been a bit indifferent though and May is showing a loss at present.

I've gone over my P/L for April, horse selections showed a profit of £486 and football £66. The football should of been a lot better though as I was running my Match Odds application at the beginning of April and despite my optimism, I had to stop it after it was showing losses of about £300.

Nice to see Powerstats hit a bit of form (and go into profit!) on Sunday with a welcome return of 16 points, this was thanks to Sparta @ 8.2, Birmingham @ 4.1 and Le Havre @ 8's.

Running Powerstats now at +1 point profit.

Another plug as well for a service I use - NoseAhead. The guy regularly posts on The Form Analysts forum and I've been following his tips for a while, link added on the right as well. I've decided not to renew with The Form Guru for now, the results were a little dissapointing although I did end up in a small profit. I've got a few other services to concentrate on at the moment so I'll stick with them and keep an eye on Form Guru for now.

Will post any powerstats for today later, doubt there will be any though.....
