Halloween, the day of the year when the witches come out and evil descends on our world, I'm sure there's a link in there somewhere about betting and halloween but I can't think of one.....

Last night there were no such devilish goings on at Salisbury and they obliged nicely with a welcome 2-0 win, that puts the running powerstats total now at :

There should be plenty of predictions this weekend and maybe tonight as well, I'll endeavour to post them as early as possible. I received an email from Warren (apologies Warren, I will reply, I just cant email out from work...)today asking about whether it's possible to email the predictions out. That would be a useful feature, I've looked in the Typepad Control Panel for the site and there doesn't seem to be anything for email lists. Maybe someone else knows of a widget that can be added onto a blog for email lists ? If I had the time I'd email them out manually to people but it's a struggle even finding time to update the blog let alone put together an email, I'll see what I can do.

So now I can look forward to a life of fame, riches and fast cars. Yes, I've been selected for an interview live on JuiceStorm next Wednesday the 5th of November, the interview is sure to go with a bang, will there be fireworks ? Can I fit anymore lame jokes in this post ?

Been rewriting my in play football app today to use Betfairs API6. I've left it on API5 for a long time now as its been running well and I didnt want to touch it but last night it fell over and didnt run on the Salisbury game, I think it would of done well and with the feeling that it probably cost me money, the time is right to port it over to the new API version. I'll wait till after the weekend before I trial it though.

October 30th

Well so much for hoping for a decent night last night with the in play football app, most of the games couldn't of gone much worse for me and it made a loss of £417 on the night. Been an expensive couple of days for it which means it's going to have a losing month. It's still up though since the start of the season and I also read last night that others on the Betfair forum have been finding the football tough this month. There again for every loser there has to be a winner :o)

The horses had a losing day yesterday but well within the daily stop loss so I'm going to carry those losses into the next days racing. Nothing today and with the end of the flat season looming I'll probably have to stop the experiment before it's really even started!
When I started doing my horse picks I paid close attention to the price I was getting on at and the price they were setting off at. I was getting poor value i.e. backing at about 80% of the Starting Price so now I just place my picks at the Betfair SP. The poor value did give me an idea though and yesterday I started an app that places bets at hopefully poor value. I picked some horses at random and layed them, the app ran through the morning until the off times, placing bets appropriately. I downloaded the stats for it this morning and saw that over the 10 horses I'd layed I had layed them all to about 80% of the SP, thats got to be something worth pursuing, typically a couple of the horses won which meant a loss on the day but the overall idea seemed succesful.
I haven't had a chance today to tweak the app a bit more or get any bets on, hopefully tonight I'll get the chance.

I did get the chance last night to fire up my new valuestats application. Basically I have an app on my server that logs the starting prices of all the in play football (Match Odds and Next Goal) matches. My application then connects to the server and displays the games currently in play. You (the user) then put in the mins gone and the score and it tells you correct Next Goal and Match Odds, it is pretty slick even if I say so myself :o) A marketable application maybe......?!

I think theres some lower league stuff tonight, there usually is on a Thursday so it might show up as a powerstat, if it is I'll post it later.

October 29th

Well the good run with the in play football app had to come to an end sooner or later. Last night it came crashing back to earth with a £297 loss, ouch. It'll be back in action tonight with some interesting looking games in the Premiership.

Powerstats had a decent night though, Walsall was postponed (due to snow???!!) but we managed to get 3 from the other 4 selections correct, which made for pleasing reading.

They look a little healthier now. Nothing for tonight though, still not enough games played in the Premiership for any predictions to be made.

Got my selections ready for Kempton tonight, the experiment continues....

October 28th

Another satisfying evening with the in play football app pulling in a profit of £180. It'll be busy tonight with a full league program (programme?) as well, just hope it keeps it's winning streak going.

I've also started putting a few quid on a multiple of all the selections, more as a bit of fun, it'll come in at some point and be like a lottery win, almost anyway.

I've decided to press ahead with my horse selections (yeah yeah I know I know, I always swear I'll never touch them again after each attempt fails...!). I've looked at the results of the last month and they look promising enough so I've put a staking plan in place with a daily target and a daily stop loss, whats that saying about a fool and his money ? Started today with it and with a touch of beginners luck we got off to a winner in the first race selected so job done for the day and target reached.

Bought an Xbox 360 at the weekend, so played Pro Evo 2009 on it last night, amazing graphics. Havent ventured online yet with it, I would just get blitzed by some 11 year old from Holland at the moment anyway. Also got Sonic (for the kids), PGR4 racing and Fable II.

Tony Adams the new Pompey boss then, happy enough with that. We'll see how it pans out.

October 27th

Another fine day yesterday for the in play football app showing a profit of £380, maybe there is hope for this month after all.....

There is a full fixture list this week so there should be some powerstats from tomorrow onwards.

Had a chance at the weekend to catch up reading through some blogs, nice to see Footygeek and a few others posting again!

October 26th

Got up this morning to the news of Redknapp leaving, ah well, life goes on. Thanks for the good times, you never stopped reminding us of them :o) Oh, and don't bother asking for your job back if Spurs decide they've had enough of you, once bitten twice shy and all that.

Anyway, onto more important stuff....The football app had a decent enough day yesterday with a £300 profit, I'm happy with that although a couple of the evening games had the chasers piling into Juve and Barcelona and taking about £400 off me as their luck and 'judgement' came in...! Porto backers weren't quite so lucky though and that pulled in £210 which kept it at a decent day.

Powerstats had a better day with a 13 points profit and a 28 points profit on the multiples.

October 24th

Not much to report really. Been a quiet wek for me since the last update, I'm putting my horse bets on at SP now. I plan on going back at some point on writing an app to try and place bets at value, now I have a script that can work out all the price on the bets I've placed and the SP of the horses then I think it's worth pursuing.

The football app has been quiet as it's been European week and it doesnt run on those games. Not a good result for Pompey, our next game in Europe is AC Milan at home, if we lose that then we need to win our last two to have any chance of qualifying.

Should be some powerstats for today and bound to be plenty for the weekend, hopefully they'll be a bit better than Tuesday's.
